The Watchers – Trailer

I’ve tried to keep my expectations for M. Night Shyamalan films kinda low after The Last Airbender, but I can’t help but be a little excited for The Watchers!

The Plot

After Mina’s (Dakota Fanning) car mysteriously breaks down in an extremely “witchy” looking forest, she must make the decision between staying where she is or rushing through a door appearing out of nowhere. The older woman who opened the door tells Mina she has 5 seconds to make her decision before it is sealed. Given the creepy screeching of hidden monsters in the forest and the fact that her car has disappeared, I don’t think there’s much of a choice.

Upon going through the door, Mina meets 3 strangers who are staying in what looks like a room made of cement. The eerie focal point of the room is a giant mirror taking up a whole wall. The older woman tells Mina that they have to stand in front of the mirror regularly, because the beings on the other side like to watch them… As Mina stands in front of the mirror, a terrible shrieking and chortling sound starts up. When Mina asks what that sound is, the older woman tells her that it’s applause. Super creepy.

Questions swirl as it’s revealed that no one has ever seen the creatures and lived to tell the tale. But there certainly seems to be something malevolent in the forest…

Will Mina make it out alive? Is this whole thing some kind of psychological experiment? Are there really monsters in the forest? I’m looking forward to watching The Watchers to find out!
