Bodies Bodies Bodies – Movie Review

Rating: 3 out of 5.

What happens when you mix a real life game of essentially Among Us, drugs and alcohol, and a hurricane? Nothing good.

Plot

Bee (Maria Bakalova) and Sophie (Amandla Stenberg) are a fairly new couple. Still in the honeymoon phase of their relationship, Sophie invites Bee to a “hurricane party” with her wealthy friends that is being held at her best friend David’s parent’s mansion. After arriving at the home, Bee is introduced to Sophie’s friends with a mixed reception. Bee is a quiet and shy working class student from Europe, and for the most part Sophie’s friends (and Sophie herself) are from very wealthy homes. They are a combination of privileged, spoiled, and bitchy, and Bee doesn’t quite fit in.

There’s Alice (Rachel Sennott), the ditsy girl who’s personality is that she has a podcast, and her much older boyfriend she met (very) recently on a dating app. There’s David (Pete Davidson), the douchy guy with a black eye who definitely deserved it. Emma (Chase Sui Wonders) is David’s girlfriend, an aspiring actress. And lastly, there’s Jordan (Myha’la Herrold), a girl with a strange connection to Sophie who warns Bee that she can’t trust Sophie. Another friend is referenced a few times, but he left suddenly the night before and no one knows for sure if or when he’s coming back.

As the night progresses, the party begins. Drugs, alcohol, loud music, you get the picture. Eventually, it’s suggested that they play a game called Bodies Bodies Bodies. Basically, this is a real life version of the popular video game, Among Us. One person is randomly and secretly assigned the role of murderer. All the lights then get turned off and if the murderer taps someone on the back, they are “dead.” Whenever someone stumbles across a body, they have to yell “bodies bodies bodies” to alert everyone left alive and then they have a group meeting to vote out who the suspected murderer is. Honestly it sounds like a super fun game, but this is a movie, so you know there’s going to be a turn.

All is fun and games as the hurricane rages outside until the power goes off… and real dead bodies begin to be found.

Who’s the murderer? Will anyone make it out alive? Watch Bodies Bodies Bodies to find out!

My Thoughts

Bodies Bodies Bodies is a movie full of some dislikable characters, but it’s pretty entertaining. The beauty of this film is that it’s a satire, and the key to me starting to like it was realizing that the characters that were shallow, elitist, or douches were that way to prove a point… and for some laughs.

I couldn’t help but crack up at some of the dialog. In the midst of a potential serial killer on the loose, Alice was having a meltdown because it came out that Jordan “hate listens” to her podcast. Meanwhile Jordan got super defensive because her “started from nothing” narrative begins to crack as it’s reveled that her family is “upper middle class.”

If you like teen slasher films and whodunits, you might like the movie Bodies Bodies Bodies!
